Moving – Decision Time – Status

(Update 26/02/20)

Well the move went ahead. The new house needs a HUGE amount of work. I’m currently living in a construction site. The first week we had no heating or hot water. As quotes are coming in for the work we cannot do ourselves Its becoming clear that I will not be able to afford a new workshop. Therefor its very likely that I’ll not be able to accept work again in the next year (2021) or perhaps ever. I cannot do my console work on the kitchen table for example, or take up any space in the house with children around. A workshop was my only answer.

Most of my collection will have to be sold off too I expect, but I’m dealing with that when I have too.

(Update 08/01/20)

Finally progress from the solicitors and estate agents. Looks like things are progressing and the move can happen after all. Its caused stress over Christmas not knowing what was happening on top of everything else.

So this will mean I wont be unpacking my tools for work this month, and will almost certainly mean no work orders this year at least. Sorry, but until the house is complete I won’t be able to start working on a new work area.

(Update 16/12/19)

Still no progress on the move. Very frustrating! Anyway, if it looks like I’m no closer to a moving date in January I might get my tools back out and take on a very small number of jobs. I need to just enjoy Christmas for now and hope the new year brings more luck.

Delays! Looks like the house move will not happen before Christmas. Things have got complicated with contracts, deeds and land registries with the new house… Honestly, who tries to sell a house without first checking they have the right info needed to actually sell it!

As all my equipment is packed up I cannot accept any work still. It’s really annoying as I’d love to help with the requests that I get, but I’m stuck in “moving limbo” for now.

We hound a new house. Now for the actual move. Unfortunately the new house needs 100% refurbishment and an extension building. This will take all of my time for at least a year. After that I plan to build a new workshop/arcade in the grounds.

House sold. That’s the first part done! Need to find a new house now. From today I wont accept any work requests, all my free time is taken up with house hunting. The last few jobs I have in will be finished soon.

Hello everyone. I’ve had to make a really hard decision regarding 8bitplus and the services that I currently offer. I’m planning to move home sometime this year (if all goes well), and will not have the time to accommodate the volume of work I’m currently accepting. I’ve already extended my turn around time on quotes, but I need to reduce things even more.

From this point on I will not be able to accept every job request. I don’t want to stop all work completely, but will like to get things down to only 1 or 2 jobs a month. That will give me more time for concentrating on finding a new home for my family and the 1001 other things that will need doing with the move. All work I have in currently will be completed asap.

Please feel free to email me for quotes and availability, but please don’t be disappointed if I cannot accept the work.

Thanks

Neil – 8bitplus

Looking forward to your new workshop, because this probably means you have time for new projects 🙂

I hope that you will be able to take on more work again in the future, trustworthy individuals to work on such projects are difficult to come by!

Best of luck with the house hunting, and thank you again for installing my PSIO.
