N64 Hispeedido HDMI mod installation

This week I was asked to install the Hispeedido HDMI mod kit for a customer in his PAL N64. This was new one for me. I’ve previously installed plenty of other brand solutions. I have worked with products like the Pixel FX Retro Gem and the N64 Digital. However, I had never seen the Hispeedido kit before.

The console arrived with the included mod kit. It’s pretty basic, containing the PCB itself, flex ribbon and a wires (not needed if installing with the flex cable). I’ve got to admit though, the inclusion of the mini HDMI adapter was nice to see.

Fortunately installing the Hispeedido is no more complicated than other solutions. Soldering the flex cable is tricky and not recommended unless you are experienced with soldering on this scale. the flex cable also includes the hook-up points for power and controller input (used for the menu).

After installation I tested with my PC display. As you can see it works fine. The picture isn’t quite as good as the higher cost solutions. You also definitely don’t get as many options with the upscale. The menu is very basic and most of the options for colour are pointless to me. It does the job for the price point though.

Console reassembled and ready to return to the customer.

Please get in contact if you want this mod installing.
